First Annual Sprint for Spirit
Caruso Middle School will be hosting its first annual Sprint for Spirit benefiting CURE on Friday, May 20 at 3:30 pm. The walk/race will take place at the field on the north end. Caruso is located at 1801 Montgomery Rd, Deerfield, Il.
1 in 26 Americans will develop epilepsy in their lifetime. 40% of patients' seizures can not be controlled with treatments. This is why we NEED a cure!
CURE is a nonprofit organization that helps raise money for epilepsy. CURE's mission remains dedicated to finding a cure for epilepsy by raising funds for research and by increasing awareness of the prevalence and devastation of this disease.
The idea for this walk came from Maggie Loesch, an 8th grader at Caruso, who (along with her family) has been involved with CURE for the past 5 years. Maggie was diagnosed with Epilepsy when she was 8 years old and her life up to this point has been an interesting journey. In her words, "having to live with epilepsy changes your life completely."
Our goal for this walk/run is $2,016. We are asking a minimum $2 donation to participate in the event. Donations can be made online or at the event itself. Prizes will be raffled off during the event. All participants will automatically be entered into the raffle and extra tickets will be available on site. T-shirts will be given to anyone donating $25 or more prior to May 14. Since purple is the color of Epilepsy Awareness, please show your spirit and support and come dressed accordingly to walk or cheer on the group!
