Our 11 year old daughter Olivia was diagnosed with Epilepsy in March of 2019 and this is what prompted us to look for ways to support finding a CURE. Olivia had been completely healthy until this point. It was the scariest time of our lives and a complete shock, we don’t want others to have this experience. Olivia is the sweetest girl and our whole heart. She makes every day a dream to be her parents. She has handled the diagnosis with grace. She has been fortunate that the medication she is on works well for her to date. As we met more families and heard their stories it became clear that this is not always the case and so many people struggle with day to day life. We want to do something to help to find a CURE. It seems that there is not nearly the funding that other diseases have and we want to work on raising awareness as well as dollars. So for Olivia and every person struggling with epilepsy we hope you will contribute to THE CURE. On November 16th at 12 with 40 of our nearest and dearest we will RUN...ROW...and LIFT for a cure for epilepsy. Please know it is with a grateful heart that we ask for these donations and we understand everyone has a cause. Every dollar helps, so whatever you can do is appreciated!
Thank you to our family and friends for committing to help with our event and fundraising and Thank you to Orange Theory Fitness in Kingston for being so kind, helping us host the event, especially to Caitlin and Stephanie!
CURE is the leading nongovernmental funder of epilepsy research in the world. Their mission is to find a cure for epilepsy by promoting and funding patient-focused research. Epilepsy affects more people than multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy and Parkinson’s combined – yet receives fewer federal dollars per patient than each of these. Since inception, CURE has funded more than 60 million in research grants to investigators around the world and has led ground-breaking initiatives in Sudden Unexplained Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP), Post-Traumatic Epilepsy, Infantile Spasms, and Epilepsy Genetics. CURE has more than 90% of funds going straight back into their mission.
Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Their tax identification number is 36-4253176. As no goods or services are provided in exchange for your gift, your contribution is fully tax-deductible.
